WORK OVER WORDS
Civic Engagement Plan
I want to be the Harlem voice in our city and to provide a voice for the voiceless in District 9. All New Yorkers deserve to be part of our city’s civic life. I will work to increase the needed resources to ensure that public engagement on community boards, health community advisory councils, police precinct councils and community education councils are maximized. As Councilman I will ensure that District 9 will recognize all of its constituents so that our democracy remains strong and inclusive.
Ensure that all New Yorkers are able to effectively navigate the new Ranked Choice Voting Process via our schools and after-school programs. Let begin with a new generation that can then teach all of us how to become better trustees of our democracy.
Increase the needed resources to ensure that public engagement on community boards, health community advisory councils, police precinct councils and community education councils are maximized.
Making community schools hubs for the neighborhood that surrounds each school.
Support the an annual citizen survey process that ask what can be done better to deliver services in our city
Community Boards should be well-represented by neighbors covering the entire district, at least every five blocks should have a representative.
Opening municipal elections to all residents regardless of incarceration or prior felony conviction status.
A right to re-enter public housing for formerly incarcerated individuals to enhance their chances of successful reintegration to society.
